The National Palace Museum (NPM) houses a magnificent collection of precious Chinese artifacts and serves the role of protecting human and art histories. We have a permanent collection of nearly 700.000 pieces of artifacts and artworks. The collection has become an important part of Taiwanese culture.

Since 1973, the NPM hosted national educational exhibitions with replicated artifacts touring around Taiwan, to tackle geographical, economical and sociological barriers in under-resourced regions, increase cultural engagement for general public. From 2010, we collaborate with schools in marginal areas, judiciary and health care system. The Art Care Project started from 2015 onward, we brought workshops to women refugee, veterans care home, psychiatric ward, and special needs institutes. The workshops are tailor-made in response to the needs of individual client groups, we take on the personal-centric approach, aim to connect artifacts with the participant’s personal life experience, and elaborate their emotional responses through artmaking.

The NPM puts cultural equality as its core value in response to the New Museum Movement, promotes the ideology with our rich cultural resources, make museum matter to wider society. This is a museum for everyone. In this exhibition, we collaborate with contemporary art and social welfare organization, enhance the spiritual aspect of human from past to present through our collection. We aim to make museum a forum for interdisciplinary conversations, invite audiences to take part in the social action of museum.
